How to use Search IP.law

1. Run a search

Type a keyword, party name, or case number into the search bar on the home page and press Search. By default the tool looks across all available sources; you can narrow the scope with the search-type selector next to the input.

2. Refine with advanced search

Open Advanced Search to add filters:

  • Parties Involved and Case Number for targeted queries.
  • Case Type to restrict results to T cases (General Court) or C cases (CJEU).
  • From / To dates to limit the period. Use Reset dates to clear the date range without losing the rest of your filters.
  • Labels to filter by curated topics. Selected labels are combined with the rest of the filters.

3. Read the results

Results are grouped by source in tabs (Curia, EUIPO Guidelines). Each row shows the Jurisdiction, Case N°, Parties, Subject Matter, Document, Labels, and Date. Long columns are clamped to two lines — click the arrow in the column header to expand that column for every row, or the arrow on a single row to expand only that row.

4. Open a case

Click Details on a row to open the full case view. The detail page shows the short summary, labels, and links to the original HTML, PDF, and EUR-Lex sources. Click Generate a summary to reveal the long AI-generated summary — it is hidden until you ask for it, so you always choose when to consume it.

5. Sort and paginate

Use the Sort by dropdown in the table header to order results by date, parties, or case number. Pagination controls appear under the table when there is more than one page of results.
